This year’s Sweet Tea and Southern Pickin’s Festival went off without a hitch!
On Friday and Saturday, August 26 - 27, festivalgoers gathered in downtown McKenzie to explore clothing, craft, and food vendors and great vintage finds, such as treasures, oddities, antiques, and artifacts.
The McKenzie Chamber of Commerce kicked off the event on Friday at 9:00 a.m. with its first-ever Golf Tournament held at Carrol Lake Golf Club. The Golf Outing Kickoff, which will now be an annual event, offered networking and sponsorship opportunities with proceeds benefiting the Chamber. Winners were awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place prizes and Closest to the Hole and Long Drive prizes. The event also featured a Silent Auction and a 50/50 Raffle.
Live music was a highlight of this event, and entertainment included performances on Broadway by Southern Fried Funnies, The Fajita Brothers, King Beez, Colton Baker, Flashback, and the Paula Bridges Band.
Entertainment for children included a kids’ zone with kid-friendly activities consisting of rides, water slides, and Susie’s Petting Zoo. The Carroll County 4-H also held a Youth Vegetable Derby and gifted sweet tea as a refreshment on Saturday at the Farmer’s Market.
